About the Original Artwork
Swallows are said to carry souls with them as they dance and twirl through the liminal space; the space between the living and the spirit world.  Midnight Meadow was created using the process of cyanotype with plant material foraged on walks in the local landscape. Natural dyes derived from indigo and elderberries are used to create cool and deep blue tones for the work. Machine and hand embroidery add textural depth and movement. The swallows were hand-carved and printed from a lino block. Silver leaf adorns the shimmering moon.
