About the Original Artwork
 The Goldfinch in folklore is said to be a symbol of prosperity and good luck. Red Moon Charm is a celebration of this beautiful bird and the feeling of joy and privilege when you catch a fleeting gold flicker of a Goldfinch wing. This piece explores connectedness with the landscape and a sense of rootedness and belonging in the home. Dyed, stitched and printed ‘windows’ of memories appear throughout the work depicting a cool blue summer sky behind branches and a golden sunset reflected in a window. Red Moon Charm is created using natural dyes derived from indigo, rust and alder along with cyanotype printed plant material foraged on walks in the local landscape. 23 carat gold leaf adorns the piece. The Goldfinch and teasels were hand-carved from a lino block and printed onto silk.
